Sonicspree is a fully functional concept project conceived, designed and developed by Ergonomidesign and Connecta for Microsoft Surface.
During the design process, our interaction design team thoroughly explored the latest in multi-touch and multi-user technology. In developing the Sonicspree, they took advantage of all the possibilities provided by the Microsoft Surface. The application can be run standalone, but encourages you to participate as a group of up to six people. It is operated with real dice, hands and fingers.
The designers at Ergonomidesign see lots of potential for this new technology. Several business areas such as mobile devices and services, education, medical devices and services are examples of promising future areas of use.
Sonicspree Music Quiz and Music Store engage the users to explore and share their own and other people’s music experience in a sociable way. On one side of the tabletop you can find out how in tune you are through the Sonicspree Music Quiz. It is guaranteed to be loud and crazy with a lot of laughs. Show how clever you are by matching the album cover to the song being played. Collect the most points and win!
“Turn the table” and get a sneak preview of Sonicspree Music Store, an application that enables you to buy mobile phone apps, subscriptions and share music in a sociable context with others. Browse for new releases, read about upcoming concerts or download music to your mobile phone.
The Sonicspree application is designed for use in mobile phone stores such as Vodafone and AT&T. It attracts people to the store and also encourages them to make frequent visits. Sonicspree establishes a natural arena for friends to socialize and for sales staff to interact in a relaxed way with consumers. When discussing different subscriptions or services with a salesman around the table the customer gets a better visualization of the offers and is invited to get involved and interact with the content. Together with a friend you can easily swap play lists or applications actually in the store by placing your phones on the table. Thanks to this new interactive technology, stores can offer a new and improved buying experience, facilitating communications between sales staff and consumers, and thereby strengthening the brand and increasing customer loyalty.
The Sonicspree application has already generated a buzz in media and in the user experience community. Fast Company has listed it as one of the top “killer applications ” for Microsoft Surface and Sonicspree has won the Microsoft .NET awards in the category "The surprise of the year". The contest rewards inspirational solutions in cutting edge technology. They have designed a social and musical multi-user experience that truly engages the user."
How to play:
• To join, choose a position around the table and place one hand on the tabletop. Your play area will appear in front of you..
• Play with up to 5 others or play solo.
• Roll the dice on the table. The dice will show you 2 combined music categories to guess from. For example: Pop & 80’s..
• Remove the dice from the game board and the game starts..
• A song will play and a collection of hidden album covers will begin rotating around the table’s edge. Drag & drop one of the hidden covers into the center of the table to reveal the artist..
• If the cover matches the song being played, be the first to drag and drop it into your own play area to score a point.(Oops!) If the cover doesn’t match the song, you lose a point.
• The player with the highest score wins. To start a new game, simply roll the dice again.
